Northwest Houston company is needing an Indirect Tax Consultant for a long-term temporary/contract project.

Key Details:
* Multi-state tax compliance with operations primarily in Texas and brokered services across the lower 48 states
* Heavy focus on Sales & Use Tax and Fuel Excise Tax
* Review and ensure proper state tax filings and compliance
* Assess current tax processes and identify discrepancies
* Support Avalara implementation and validate accuracy of setup/configuration. Recently migrated to business central and Avalara is a plugin to this.
* Will work independently with support from the accounting team
* Transportation, fuel, energy, logistics, or fuel distribution industry experience highly preferred
Must-Haves:
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting
* 10+ years of indirect tax compliance experience including at the management level
* Multi-state Sales & Use Tax experience
* Excise/Fuel Tax knowledge
* Avalara experience
* Strong compliance and process improvement background
* Ability to hit the ground running with minimal supervision

Pay range $70-85/hr. depending upon experience.
